PlungeHQ is an independent wellness gear review site. We read the actual research, compare real products, and tell you what’s worth your money — including recommending cheap options over expensive ones when the value is there.
Independent, science-backed reviews for cold plunge tubs, infrared saunas, red light therapy, and home wellness gear. No broscience. Real research, honest recommendations.
Our Mission
The home wellness market has exploded — and so has the bullshit. Cold plunge brands charge $6,000 for products worth $1,500. Influencers claim cold water cures cancer. Red light therapy is either “miracle light” or “total woo” depending on who you ask.
PlungeHQ exists to cut through it. We read the actual research. We compare the actual products. We tell you what’s worth your money and what’s marketing noise.
Who We Are
PlungeHQ was founded by Shane Ryan, a cold plunge and sauna enthusiast who got tired of marketing noise drowning out real product information. Shane leads the editorial research and personally verifies product specifications against manufacturer documentation before any recommendation is published. When we say a product reaches 32°F or uses eucalyptus wood, it’s because we checked the manufacturer’s current product page — not because a brand told us to write it.
Our editorial independence means we’ll recommend a chest freezer conversion over a $14,000 commercial tub when the value isn’t there. It means we publish honest disclosures when we haven’t physically tested a product. And it means our rankings are never for sale.
What We Cover
- Cold Plunge Tubs: From $150 chest freezer conversions to $8,000 professional chiller systems — every price point, honest rankings
- Infrared Saunas: Far infrared cabins, full-spectrum units, sauna blankets, and barrel saunas
- Red Light Therapy: Panels, masks, targeted devices — what wavelengths work and which products deliver them
- Accessories: Thermometers, bath robes, chiller upgrades, water treatment — the supporting gear that matters
- Science Guides: Protocols, research breakdowns, “how often,” “how long,” and “is this real?” content
Our Approach to Research
We start with the science. When we make a health claim, we cite a peer-reviewed study. When the evidence is weak, we say so. We don’t repeat claims from brand websites as if they were facts.
We also review products with a practical lens. A chest freezer conversion delivers the same cold therapy benefits as a $5,000 branded tub — and we’ll tell you that, even though recommending cheap options doesn’t maximize our affiliate commissions.
Affiliate Disclosure
PlungeHQ uses affiliate links. When you click a link and purchase a product, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This is how we sustain the site.
Our commitment: Affiliate relationships never influence our ratings, rankings, or recommendations. We will recommend a product with no affiliate program over one with an affiliate program if it’s the better choice for you. You can read our full disclosure policy at our Affiliate Disclosure page.
Medical Disclaimer

Cold water immersion and heat therapy carry real risks for people with certain health conditions. Always consult your doctor before starting any new wellness practice, particularly if you have cardiovascular disease, respiratory conditions, or are pregnant.
